Conduct hydraulic excavator operations
Course Objective
This course is designed to ensure that students gain the skills and knowledge required to conduct hydraulic excavator operations in Coal and Metalliferous mining and Extractive industries. This unit is appropriate for those working or looking for work in operational roles. 

This two day course structure is aimed at students with some previous operating experience on this type of equipment.

On successful completion of this course students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO301E Conduct Hydraulic Excavator Operations and an Excavator Duty of Care Card.
Selection Criteria
Must be 18 years of age or over
Must provide drivers licence or other photo identification which contains photo, date of birth and signature
Basic English, literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation
Upon enrolment a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment must be completed.
Any pre-study received MUST be read and completed in FULL prior to attending on the day. This will be a requirement to your course and there is an expectation that this is completed. 
Course content
Plan and prepare for hydraulic excavator operations
Operate hydraulic excavator
Carry out operator maintenance
Carrying out housekeeping activities
Assessment
Assessment of this unit is done via the completion of a written assessment, observation of practical assessment activities including the completion of workplace documentation.

The assessment will be conducted in English without the use of an interpreter. The outcome of the assessment will be Competent or Not Yet Competent. If you are Not Yet Competent your trainer will provide you feedback and you will have the opportunity to re-sit the assessment.

Duration: 2 day plus pre study
Times: 8:00am - 4:00pm daily
Cost: $1,600.00* per person
Deposit: 20% deposit required on booking
Balance: Balance payable on arrival at the course
Fee includes study materials that are retained by students.

• Re-issue of card $ 50.00
Fees must be paid in full before the course date or payment arrangement in place.

Novice Course - 3 day course for persons with no previous operator experience available upon enquiry.

Learners must
Read this course information and the Learners Handbook prior to enrolment.
Wear fully enclosed footwear such as safety boots and long pants and shirt.
Have photo identification (ie Australian Drivers Licence, Passport or Proof of Age Card).
Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number before attending the course (refer to the Learners Handbook).
