Selection Criteria

• Must be 16 years old or over. Learners under 18 require a guardian's consent form.
• Present photo identification (e.g. Driver's License, Proof of Age card, Medicare Card, Passport) on the day of training.
• Permit a photo on the day (head, neck and shoulders) to go onto the duty of care card upon successful completion.
• Notify the office if you need any additional literacy or numeracy support.
• No prerequisites, but must meet minimum physical and LLN requirements

Physical Ability: The HLTAID competency standards require a level of physical ability to provide first aid and respond to an emergency situation where there may be risk to life. Learners are required to:

• Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
• Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
• Basic Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills to successfully complete the course. These skills are:
• Basic Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Skills:
  Basic reading and writing skills in English.
• Ability to listen and understand verbal communication in English.
• Ability to count to 30, calculate basic ratios, use a timer, and tell the time.
• Fill in an accurate incident form.

Course Content

• Basic Life Support (BLS): CPR and AED techniques for adults, children, and infants.
• Emergency Response: Managing unconscious casualties, respiratory, and cardiac emergencies.
• Injury Management: Treating bleeding, fractures, burns, and other common injuries.
• Medical Conditions: First aid for asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, and seizures.
• Environmental Emergencies: Handling heatstroke, hypothermia, poisoning, and bites/stings.

Assessment

• Delivery and assessment of this unit of competency are conducted face-to-face using written and multiple-choice theory questions, oral questioning and practical observation.
• The assessment will be conducted in English.
• The outcome of the assessment will either be Competent or Not Yet Competent.
• If you are Not Yet Competent, you will receive feedback and have the chance to re-sit the assessment.
• Upon successfully completion of this unit, learners will be issued:
1. A Statement of Attainment for the unit HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
2. A duty of care card with your photograph

Pay For This Course

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available and assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must provide sufficient current evidence and may be required to undertake practical demonstration and/or challenge assessment.

Delivery Mode: Face-to-face training and assessment conducted at our approved training facility or client site (where applicable).

Assessment Methods:

• Written knowledge assessment
• Practical demonstration
• Verbal questioning (where applicable)

This course is delivered using a single comprehensive delivery model. All learners, including refresher participants, complete the full assessment requirements.
