Course Objective

This course is designed to ensure that Learners gain the skills and knowledge required to conduct civil skid steer loader operations in Coal and Metalliferous civil and extractive industries. This unit is appropriate for those working or looking for work in operational roles.

This two/three-day course structure is aimed at Learners ranging from novice (no prior experience) to experience operators (previous experience operating machine).

On successful completion of this course Learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO318F Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations and Civil skid steer Duty of Care Card

Selection Criteria

  • Must be 18 years of age or over.
  • Must provide drivers licence or other photo identification which contains photo, date of birth and signature.
  • Basic English, literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation.
  • Upon enrolment a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment must be completed.
  • Any pre-study received MUST be read and completed in FULL prior to attending on the day. This will be a requirement to your course and there is an expectation that this is completed.

Course Content

  • Plan and prepare for civil skid steer operations
  • Health and Safety rules
  • Operations Documentation & Work Instructions
  • Inspect work area, hazard identification and controls
  • Choose and check plant and equipment

Operate Hydraulic Skid Steer

  • Assess loads and materials
  • General skid steer operations
  • Load, carry and place materials
  • Select, remove and fit attachments
  • Parking and shutdown
  • Carry out operator maintenance
  • Relocate skid steer

Assessment

  • Assessment of this unit is done via the completion of a written assessment, observation of practical assessment activities including the completion of workplace documentation.
  • The assessment will be conducted in English without the use of an interpreter. The outcome of the assessment will be Competent or Not Yet Competent.
  • If you are Not Yet Competent your trainer will provide you feedback and you will have the opportunity to resit the assessment.

Course Details

Duration: 2/3 Days plus pre-study
Times: 8am - 4pm Daily
Cost: $1,800.00 (nil GST) per person or $500.00 with CITB funding
Deposit: $360 deposit required on booking

Other Fees if Applicable

  • Verbal Assessment $ 75.00
  • Re-Assessment Fee (only applicable if Learner is required to come back for re-assessment - Contact Office for more details)
  • Re-issue of card $ 50.00

Fees must be paid in full before the course date or payment arrangement in place.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available and assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must provide sufficient current evidence and may be required to undertake practical demonstration and/or challenge assessment.

Delivery Mode: Face-to-face training and assessment conducted at our approved training facility or client site (where applicable).

  • Practical demonstration
  • Verbal questioning (where applicable)

This course is delivered using a single comprehensive delivery model. All learners, including refresher participants, complete the full assessment requirements.
